There are L type three way ball valves and T type three way ball valves.
L type three way ball valves can only connect the two orthogonal pipelines but can't connect the third pipeline, so it can only be used to distribute the flow.
T type three way ball valves can connect all the three pipelines, so it can be used to distribute or combine the flow. The T type three way ball valve can have two valve seats or four valve seats. With four valve seats, there will be more applicable working conditions.
